In the 10 previous years Mack Brown has been at Texas, has had 1 player, Vince Young, leave school early to enter the NFL. Now there has been 2 more within 2 weeks. Earlier this year, it was RB Jamaal Charles. Now it is TE Jermichael Finley.
Finley to NFL
For the immediate future, this is a huge blow to the 2008 Longhorn offense. Finley was becoming Colt's go to pass catcher and was poised to have a break out year. But he liked his NFL grade and now he is off to the big show. Finley seems to be a better NFL prospect than Charles, and should be drafted ahead of the former Texas runningback. This leaves Blaine Irby as the #1 pass catching TE for the Horns in 2008. Irby showed signs of ability in 2007, but has been a very small part of the passing game in his one year as a Longhorn.
